  1. Backup – Backblaze will back up all files on your computer, except your operating system, applications, and temporary files. If you choose, you can specifically exclude certain files. Backup occurs smoothly and continuously, so you won’t even know it is running. When a file changes, the new file is automatically backed up, and the older version is kept up to four weeks. This means any time you need to see an older version, you can simply scroll back to the version you want to see.
  2. Scheduling – Backups occur continuously, but if you would like backups to be performed at specific times, you can set a schedule for convenient times or instantly backup with the “Backup Now” option.
  3. Unlimited file size – By default, the system sets limits to 4 GB, however, you can raise or lower this limit at any time.
  4. The software works Windows and Mac platforms and is available in 11 languages.

  1. Backup – Carbonite offers a more traditional file and folder selection process, but it also does not back up system files, .exe and .dll, temporary files, the operating system, hidden files, files over 4 GB or video files. However, you can manually backup larger files and videos. This takes a bit of tweaking to set it up just right, but most people will be able to do this without any problems.
  2. Unlimited storage – With Carbonite, you can back up as much data as you need to, for one flat annual rate.
  3. Simple to use – File are automatically backed up every time there is a change. The system sets up easily and is very easy to use.
  4. Remote access – You can access your files from any computer, anywhere in the world. Just login to the web portal with your user ID and password. You can also access files via iPhone and BlackBerry.

Security
Backblaze encrypts your files before they leave your computer and then sends the encrypted files over a secure connection. All files are then left encrypted and stored in their secure data center that is protected by both physical and electronic security.

Carbonite uses 128-bit encryption during transmission as well as during storage.

  • Locate computer – this is a cool feature that helps you locate a lost or stolen compute.
