CrashPlan vs Mozy

CrashPlan vs Mozy
Every one is talking about cloud computing. The critics say it is nothing more than the pet rock of the decade, while believers say it is the cat’s meow. Who are these critics? In most cases, they are the people that have never tried an online storage service. Once you try online storage, you will never back up files the old-fashioned way again. The only thing now is to decide which online storage service provider is best for you.

When online storage companies first came into existence, they all offered about the same service for about the same price. But, as competition gets hotter, companies are trying just a little bit harder to stand out from the crowd.

Features of CrashPlan

  1. Backup – CrashPlan automatically backs up all files. If the connection is lost during a backup, it resumes right where it left off when the computer comes back online. Data is backed up to different locations one at a time, ensuring a full backup will be stored at one location as quickly possible. The system automatically determines which destination can be reached the quickest and can complete the back in the shortest amount of time, then begins there.
  2. Scheduling – The default setting backs up files automatically. However, users can change the settings to control the exact time and day computer files will be backed up.
  3. Unlimited file size – File sizes are usually limited, depending on how much the service can handle, but CrashPlan claims it doesn’t set any limits on file sizes.
  4. The CrashPlan software works with Windows, as well as Mac, Solaris and Linux.
  5. Apps for iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, Android and Windows Phone mobile devices.
