Justcloud Full Review

JustCloud ReviewIntroduction
Gone are the days when people used the term ‘cloud’ to mean the heavens and sky. Nowadays, ‘cloud’ is better known as a technology allowing storage of files in virtual space. In simpler terms, cloud computing allows more effective and convenient file storage – there’s no requirement for physical backup such as flash and external drives. You don’t need to panic anymore when you can’t find the flash drive you’ll be using in a few minutes to present a business proposal. With cloud computing, you can access your files even when you are in a desert – that is, as long as you have an internet connection.

Features of JustCloud

User Friendly Interface
JustCloud is a computing company that offers an easy to use desktop application to manage files. They have been receiving favourable reviews from consumers and industry giants because of their simple service that makes this backup process a breeze.

This review would not be complete without a mention of the features JustCloud provides. What separates JustCloud from its competitors is the ease by which things are done in their system. They don’t intimidate users and instead provide an uncomplicated, clean and easy to navigate interface. No matter how basic your computer skills are, you will still be able to work with the straightforward functionalities of their service.

Simple Subscription Plans
Many companies offer packages that might be confusing and daunting to some. JustCloud’s huge advantage is their simple price scheme which won’t leave you confused. The plans are on a sliding scale depending on how long your subscription is – you can choose from 1 month, 6 months, 1 or 2 years. The longer your subscription, the cheaper it is per month. For example, a 2 year subscription, unlimited storage plan, is $5.65 monthly. The same unlimited storage on only a one-month subscription would be $7.96. There is a similar payment/subscription scale for the 250GB storage plans. In addition to this, you get a whopping 35% discount when you join JustCloud.

Option of Unlimited Storage
This brings us to another great feature of JustCloud, which is the choice of unlimited storage. Choosing which files and folders to backup can be a hassle if you are trying to work around a limit set by a company. Thankfully, JustCloud offers unlimited cloud storage for all your memory needs.

Syncing Capability
You can maximize the services of Just Cloud by using their syncing capability, allowing files to be synchronized across different platforms. After downloading and installing the JustCloud application, you will then see a ‘sync folder’. You need to remember that the contents of this folder will be the same on all the devices where you have installed the service. That means you can drag any file into this sync folder and expect them to appear on the other devices regardless of where these gadgets are. Even if you haven’t installed the system on one particular device, your files wouldn’t be a problem to access, because you can check your files by logging into the JustCloud website.

JustCloud uses a secured socket layer encryption 256 algorithm to transmit files over their server. The same encryption level is used by banks all over the world on their online banking websites. If hackers attempt to intercept the files going to the data centres, they wouldn’t be able to make sense of the documents. In addition to this the servers on JustCloud are also encrypted so hackers getting into the servers would see only garbled information.

Backup Status
The process of backing up computer files has never been so easy. After the installation of the application, you will be asked to choose the files you want backed up. This initial backup procedure can take a few hours or a few days depending on data size. Once this initial process is finished, JustCloud automatically saves all the changes made under those files and folders. This way, you won’t have to worry which of your files are not yet protected – live drive will take care of it. In addition, via the desktop application, you can find information such as the date of the last backup, schedules, your current settings and so on.

File Sharing & Restoration
File sharing in JustCloud is smooth and direct. They provide you with the option to share files with family and friends through Facebook and Twitter, e-mail, or even via a custom link.

File restoration in JustCloud can be accomplished in one click using the ‘restore files’ button. This can be found on either the control panel of the website or on the desktop application. A progress bar shows you how much time is left before completion. Once finished, the restored files are put into a directory of your choice with the date of restoration shown.

Another thing that makes JustCloud’s service unique is that they have no file restrictions so even large animation and video formats can be accommodated in their servers. They also vouch for 100% compatibility with all types of operating systems.

Customer Support
JustCloud has a team of dedicated customer support specialists available 24/7 to assist customers with their queries. The speed in resolving issues is commendable and surprisingly at par if not better with other more expensive cloud computing companies. Based on reviews, support tickets are answered in a quick and efficient manner by friendly staff.

If you want to figure out things on your own, you can search through their extensive knowledge base and FAQ section. They are also currently in the process of producing video tutorials that will clearly explain how things work through their desktop application.

  • No dedicated mobile application at the present time.
  • File synchronisation can be slow on occasion.

The Bottom Line

JustCloud are one of my top 5 listed companies who provide a whole new level of automation file storage and protection. Their features are easy to understand and in addition they offer simple, affordable subscription plans. If all this seems too good to be true, simply allow JustCloud to prove their worth by participating in their 15-day free trial.

I love how smoothly the system works. I’m a techno geek and love having the latest technology at my fingertips and JustCloud apps fit the bill. I sync on the go and have access to all of my files wherever I go. I don’t have to worry about locking up my external hard drives or driving back to the office because I forgot a file. That used to be my biggest headache – always forgetting files. Storing files in the cloud is the best way to keep files safe, yet easy to find and access. Customer service is perfectly fine.

I was a paid user of JC. After paid and inside, they constant nag with offering extra paid services, like faster upload, more security etc. I give up on them.

I used to really like JustCloud, and recommended them to anyone I talked to who was looking for a backup service. But there are significant issues with them as well. Backups are artificially slowed, so that they can sell you “faster backups”, filesize is artificially limited so they can sell you “larger file backups” and videos wan’t back up automatically so they can sell you “video backup”. Basically they’re based entirely around upselling. This seems reasonable, and I bought into it because of their low base price and the promise of unlimited, hassle-free backup. But actually restoring turned out to be a huge issue. I tried to download my files via FTP as recommended by their website, but their server would timeout before I could download a single file, and they don’t support resuming downloads from their FTP server, so this option didn’t work in the slightest.
To add insult to injury, they’ve declared that their automatic system has flagged my account as being a “business user”. I can’t imagine why, as I use my account to back up my one personal computer, and there’s nothing that might make it seem like a business computer, except perhaps that I have a little over 1TB backed up to them. They offered me the option of upgrading to a business account, calling it a slight increase in cost. It turned out, for that amount of storage it would cost around $70 PER MONTH as a business account.

Don’t be fooled by JustCloud as I was, there are far better options, that offer all the options they want to sell you, for free. Unlimited doesn’t really mean unlimited at JustCloud, and nothing’s free, or cheap, in the end.
